Author's Statement

This 2nd term... what a grind!

Despite the fact that so much is happenning I'm going numb. Is it sensory overload or fatigue or denial or have I succumbed to the siren song of government propaganda?

I will not relent. The second term marches on. Let the captives rejoice!

Political Capital

"Political Capital,
I'm gonna' spend it!
Social Security,
I'm gonna' mend it!

"I've got a mandate this time,
Everyone loves me!.
I'll double my vacation time,
Just look at me Daddy

"Travel the land,
Meet all the people.
United we'll stand to
Fight against evil.

"I'll appoint judges and shape
The Court in my image.
I'll challenge that Kim Jong-il
To a nucular scrimmage!

"I've been aging some beef
For just this occasion;
A gift from Japan,
A democratic nation.

"I can't be beat
So Baby let's eat:
Laura, fire up the bar-b-que!
...the bar-b-que (i love this job)
...the bar-b-que (how you like your steak, Karl?)
...the bar-b-que (is Scooter comin' over?)
...the bar-b-que (heh heh, Condi)"

He's done it again, our bouncing boy,
All by himself, no help from The Court.
Some votes went missing in Ohio;
No problem, leave it to denial.

This country invented free elections and
Rainbow-sprinkled hole-punched confections;
We embrace ideal perfections
Yet some find cause for complaint.

"I'm ridin' high, I'm feelin' perky, I'm
Fixin' to fix the Social Security!
Some say it's like the third rail.
I say their thinkin's stale."

That's the spirit, Majority George!
Forget that negative thinkin'.
America's gettin' older, runnin' up debt...
An opportunity to invest!

"Thanks for your vote, it's great to be back.
Forget about what's goin' on in Iraq.
I'm here to talk about Social Security,
An outdated liberal legacy.

"The problem is, the math has changed,
The system's almost bust.
There's millions like me near retirement age
Without the family trust.

"Seniors, don't worry, your check's in the mail.
It's the up and comers we're gonna fail.
We must fix it now before it's too late.
I'm openin' up the whole debate!"

Damn! That's good - entitlements!
Bush is swingin' for the fence...
"Fix it now before it's too late
The problem is the math has changed.

"Used to be a ratio of 7-to-1
Now we just aren't gettin' it done.
Condi taught me the formula, it was kind of fun,
I think we're going to Europe."

Looks like George ain's pullin' punches.
I just hope he doesn't waste his capital on hunches
Cuz if history is a guide to future days
Trouble's gonna show up in bunches.
